Hakuna matata! :) It's a Swahili expression and it means "no problems" :) Today was a pretty problem free day, exept for the ride to Mombasa :D
I woke up this morning at 6 o'clock and packed all my things (soft bag, rucksack, handbag) and walked down to eat breakfast. I ate some yoghurt and pancakes and then it was time to leave Satao Camp. All the workers and guards in Kenya are so positive and happy, and it seems like they're enjoying their job. I'm going to miss these people, especially our guide/driver Khan. I can't in words tell how wonderful and nice he is, it wouldn't be good enough! So we left the camp with a few goodbyes to the people and then set of to one of Tsavo Easts gates. We were the last car and we hadn't been driving for long until our car queue stopped. The first car had got stuck in the mud (it had been raining at night) when it was driving off-road to avoid a big water pool. It couldn't get loss, so Khan drove through the water. It went very good, no problems at all so the other cars followed us. Soon a traktor came to drag it up but it wouldn't move. They already brought a new car, but then suddenly after a bit of more work the car came up and we could go on :)
On the way we stopped again at a curio shop and I bought a souvernir for my dad :)
A few hours we drove towards Mombasa and then suddenly a huge car/truck queue stopped our way. It's always like that when your going to Mombasa, cause trucks are moving between Mombasa and Nairobi nonstop cause the railway is in bad condition. Khan told us that the government owns the mist if the truck companies so they don't even want to fix the railway cause they are getting money fron the trucks! Well one thing I can tell about the driving towards Mombasa: it was total madness! The trucks stoid i. The queues while cars drove around and between the trucks on, sometimes on the opposites road, sometimes off-road. There was no trafic roules there, you could not call it a road, it was more like a circus! :D Luckily Khan's a good driver so he passed and drove between the other vehicles smoothly :) It was actually quite fun and fascinating to watch the trafic when I didn't drive and felt safe in Khans car :D
After like an hours drive in the madness the trucks dissapeared and the driving went well. We came to the Serena Beach Hotel & Spa. There we said good bye to the driver and took pictures with them. We gave a little tip to Khan and then he hugged me goodbye and said that see you soon :D Haha we won't likely ever see again, but he said that anyway :)
Then we got our rooms and had lunch. I thought this place would be a bit more fancier, cause the Nairobi hotel was better, but this is fine and the pool and garden are lovely. The sea comes almost to the backyard and the water is so warm! :)
I arranged my safari and Mombasa things and then went down to the pools, but it had already got a little bit cloudy. I took a short swim and went even down to swim in the Indian Ocean :D it was so wonderful and warm. Some men tried to sell something to us, but we just said no and got back to the hotel room. In 20 minutes I'm going down to dinner and then probably to sleep. We switched beds with grandpa cause his bed is super hard and he is so old that he's body would hurt terribly in the morning if he'd slept in the uncomfortable bed so now I jave to sleep on the hard one. But nobody seems to care that I sleep badly...! Hmm but now time for dinner so bye!
Love, Miranda
