Jambo! :) My Kenya safari has begun! :D Today has been even better than yesterday, although yesterday was great. This was the actual first day and we have already seen and done a lot :)
My day started with a spectacular breakfast at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, it's was so delicious! There was every fruit I know (and some I didn't even recognize) and a hundreds of breads, buns, flakes, juices, sausages, eggs and so on. A man made even waffles for me when I asked. It was literally heaven <3
After breakfast we checked out of the hotel and went to a Nairobi tour where we went to the most important places and most famous tourist attractions like the big international congress center. We saw many birds, among them the big marabous :) We ended our tour to Karen Blixens museum, which was in her actual home. It was the same one that they had used in the "Out of Africa" movie :D
Lunch was eaten at Carnivore a famous meat restaurant. They had everything between ostrich and lamb and I even tasted crocodile tail! It tasted a bit like chicken and it wasn't bad at all :D
After the lunch we left Nairobi. We had a 4 hours roadtrip in front of us and we would stop once to a wood carvind shop. The first 2 hours went very slow and I even slept for a moment. After a 2,5 hours drive we came to the carving shop. I used the poor toilet and then checked out what they were selling while waiting at the other cars. We travel in 4 big safari cars and my car is number 1 :D And we were also the first to arrive to the shop cause our driver Khan is the best :D We are 6 people in the car plus the driver and sometimes the guide who try to change cars once in a while. In my car there is my grandparents, two 40-50 year old women and the other womans husbans. They are all really nice :)
So back to the carving shop. A cute and beautiful box made of stone had caught my eye from the very first moment I saw it. It was shaped like africa and all the countries were carved in. Kenya was with its flag colour and when you lifted the tiny Kenya piece you could open the whole box. The seller told me that it costs 2500 shillings (about 25 €) but I wouldn't buy it for that much so I said 1000 shillings. He thought it was to little and then he said that 1500 is the lowest. I backed of but a moment later the married lady in my car showed that she'd bought the same. She said she paid 2000 shillings of it and I thought that I could get it cheaper. And it was really pretty :D So then I bought the stone bix for 1500 shillings and now I'm a happy owner of a beautiful carved rockbox :))
But I will tell more about today later cause now I need to sleep because the alarm is ringing 5.30 :o :D
Lala Salama! :)
Love Miranda
